Rachel Flowers and the Young Musicians Foundation Debut Orchestra, under the direction of Artistic and Ensembles Director Lauren Wasynczuk, perform the world premiere of Rachel Flowers’ pieces “Other Voices” and “Concerto for Organ and Orchestra” on Friday, April 12, 7pm at the Wilshire Ebell Theatre, 4401 W 8th St, Los Angeles, CA 90005. Tickets are $10.00 - Students & Seniors; $20.00 - General Admission.

Multi-instrumentalist Rachel Flowers is a prolific composer and virtuosic performer who is equally proficient in classical, R&B, soul, progressive, and electronic genres and has performed for artists such as Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder, Quincy Jones, Herbie Hancock, Keith Emerson, and Rick Wakeman, to name just a few. The Young Musicians Foundation Debut Orchestra has established a reputation for their musical excellence and boundary-pushing performances, most notably sell-out performances in L.A. and New York of Yeethoven and Yeethoven II, programs that combined and contrasted the music of Beethoven and Kanye West.

Preceding the performance will be a rare public screening of “Hearing Is Believing”, a compelling documentary by award-winning filmmaker Lorenzo DeStefano that showcases Rachel’s inspiring story of overcoming her loss of vision at the age of 3 months due to a condition called Retinopathy of Prematurity which resulted from being born 15 weeks premature. Appearing with Rachel in the film are Grammy winners Arturo Sandoval, Stevie Wonder, Dweezil Zappa, Grammy-nominated jazz pianist Taylor Eigsti, the late progressive rock icon Keith Emerson, Hawaii ukulele master Benny Chong, and the Santa Barbara Youth Symphony.
