Yelena Dyachek Mu Phi Epsilon Los Angeles Alumni Chapter - Phyllis Hausman Loeb Memorial Scholarship
Yelena Dyachek, Ukrainian-American soprano, is currently a student at the USC Thornton School of Music, where she completed her MM in Vocal Arts, and is continuing in pursuit of a Graduate Certificate under the tutelage of Elizabeth Hynes. Commended by the Opera News for her "impeccably focused singing", this fall Dyachek performed the role of Vitellia in USC's production of Mozart's La Clemenza di Tito, where she was noted by the LA Times for her commanding portrayal of the character. In November 2015, Dyachek also triumphed, placing 1st at the Metropolitan National Council Regional Auditions in Los Angeles. She will be one of twenty semifinalists contending for the main prize in New York this coming March. Dyachek's forthcoming operatic engagements include Vitellia in Mozart's La Clemenza di Tito, Frau Von Daubek in Thomas Morse's concert premiere of Frau Schindler, and Der Komponist in Ariadne auf Naxos- all with the USC Thornton Opera. As a testament to her academic achievements, Dyachek is a member of the prestigious music honor society Pi Kappa Lambda.
