Outreach Concerts Series

About

With the help of our generous corporate underwriters, YMF has merged both the outreach and artistic development branches of the foundation by taking the Debut Orchestra’s concerts to the youth of inner city Los Angeles.

With financial assistance from corporate underwriting, the Debut Orchestra brings the concert hall directly to schools in inner city Los Angeles to perform free “run-out” performances of the music from the underwritten concert. The music contained in the concerts are an extension of some of our best works of the season.  Our ability to perform great classical music at a professional level has made us one of the preeminent training orchestras in the country.  In addition, The Young Musicians Foundation’s Music Director & Conductor, Case Scaglione, and Artistic Administrator, Dr. Mieko Di Sano, incorporates a presentation with slides, videos, and music examples to create a premiere interactive learning experience to accompany the performance.

Our concerts don’t just prepare our young players for their life as professional musicians, they also allow us to do what we have done best for 55 years: to bring great music to the people of Southern California for free. No organization has a better track record of tenaciously seeking out the most under-served communities and bringing them the gift of classical music. With the generosity of corporate underwriting, we continue to expand that tradition so that every child in our neighborhoods, regardless of race or socio-economic standing, can be taken to those magical places visited only through great music.

Our next Outreach Concert Event

March 15th, 2010 @ 1:30pm

Underwritten by State Farm Insurance / Partners with Teach For America

Helen Bernstein High School, Hollywood, CA

The theme of this Outreach Concert Series is “Cultural Warfare”. High school students will learn music history and appreciation through an interactive, multimedia presentation. Students explore their knowledge of current events, popular culture, literature and art and relate it to the events and culture that produced pieces like Brahms’ Symphony No. 4 in E minor and Pärt’s Fratres for Violin & Strings. Music Director & Conductor Case Scaglione will lead the Young Musicians Foundation Debut Orchestra in a live performance of Pärt’s Fratres for Violin & Strings & the fourth movement of Brahms’ Symphony No. 4 in E minor.

Thanks to Our Generous Underwriters and Partners
