Now in its 40^th season, the YMF Chamber Music Series program provides professional coaching and performance to some of the most talented young musicians in the Southern California area.  Founded in 1970 by pianist Joanna Graudan, the Chamber Music Series serves an essential and integral part in the training of all musicians, one rarely available before college.

Since 1988,  the program has been led by renowned pianist Delores Stevens (Artistic Director, Martha’s Vineyard Chamber Music Society).  Mrs. Stevens leads a faculty comprised  of  Los Angeles’ most prominent musicians and educators, providing tuition-free coachings to twenty-five gifted young artists, age 18 and under.   Students present two public recitals, including a live broadcast on KMZT 105.1 FM’s prestigious Sunday’s Live at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Leo S. Bing Theatre.

Eligibility

The program is open to talented elementary through high school piano, string harp, woodwind and brass players through age 18. Each ensemble receives a grant to pay for coaching sessions with one of LA’s finest master teachers.

Audition applications are now being accepted for the 2010 – 2011 season. Please note that there is a $25 fee.

Audition Requirements

Applicants should prepare two contrasting movements (one fast/technical; one slow/lyrical), totalling no more than eight minutes. The choice of repertoire should best demonstrate the applicant’s level of musicality and stage of musical development. Piano accompaniment is required and is the responsibility of the applicant to provide. Auditions are held for each individual applicant – not ensembles.
