About CMS
Founded in 1960 to counter the lack of chamber music training for young musicians, the YMF and renowned pianist and educator, Joanna Graudan, created a chamber music program of coaching and performances for the music students of Southern California.
Artistic Director, Delores Stevens
Since 1989, the Chamber Music Series has been led by acclaimed concert pianist Delores Stevens, Artistic Director of both the Martha’s Vineyard Chamber Music Society and Chamber Music Palisades. From its early beginnings of just four ensembles, the program has grown to support eight ensembles, two professional performances and a competition for young composers. Each year, 30 young musicians (ages 11-18) are selected through auditions to receive a grant for a series of coaching sessions with leading professional musicians from the Los Angeles area.
Eligibility
The program is open to talented piano, string, harp, woodwind and brass players through age 18, and auditions are held annually in the fall. Each student receives a scholarship to pay for coaching sessions with one of LA’s finest master teachers.
Applications
Applications for the 2011-2012 season are now closed. Thank you for your interest.
