Music Technology Program for TAP
YMF is announcing a brand-new initiative:
A computer music program for our TAP students!!
A computer music program for our TAP students!!
YMF is kicking of a funding campaign for a music technology program. Please help us get off to a great start and give today!

Music’s soul is sound. And the power behind some of the most soulful sonic creativity today is technology.
The ability to compose, arrange, perform, record and share music using just a personal computer — teamed, of course, with human creativity — is revolutionary. Previously, musicians needed access to expensive recording studios. Now, anyone with a computer and specialized software can write and record a piece of music in one afternoon and share it worldwide.
YMF’s Music Technology Program is a groundbreaking initiative to introduce aspiring music-makers to the technological skills so essential in today’s creative economy.
The Music Technology Program provides software, keyboards and other equipment to schools and provides professional working musicians to teach students how to become digital creators.
Introduction to Digital Music Recording and Technology
We believe classes should be fun, positive and encouraging, while at the same time providing students with a solid foundation in both music and technological skills.
What We Teach
• Uses of music technology
• Basics of song structure and recording
• Creating music with the computer
• Combining digital and recorded music
Skills/Experiences
Students will learn how to:
• Use a DAW (digital audio workstation)
• Create rhythm tracks/beats, backing tracks and melodic tracks
• Record live audio, such as vocals, using a microphone
• Blend various audio sources into an original composition that they can send to friends and family and even post online!
The program’s musical advisor is film and TV composer Tim Jones, best known for his work as the composer on the NBC series “Chuck.”
