Fifteen-year-old Kristi Kim began her cello studies seven years ago. She studies with Dorothy Muggeridge and is coached by the eminent cellist Ron Leonard. Kristi has received numerous awards including first place at the California ASTA State Solo Competition and first place at the LA Cello Society Competition. As a winner of multiple concerto competitions, Kristi has soloed with the Beach Cities Symphony, Brentwood Symphony, Montecito International Music Festival Orchestra, Santa Monica College Symphony, Southwestern Youth Music Festival Orchestra, and the Mount Orchestra. Kristi has performed in master classes for Lynn Harrell and John Walz. Most recently, Kristi was invited to compete in the IX International Tchaikovsky Competition for Young Musicians in Novosibirsk, Russia. Kristi has been a YMF Scholar since 2013.
