Gabriel Campos

Gabriel Campos was born in San Jose, Costa Rica in 1989 into a family of jazz musicians. He began his musical studies at the Instituto Nacional de Musica as a student of Jose Manuel Ugalde Quiros. In the United States, Gabriel continued his studies at the Interlochen Arts  Academy under the direction of Nathan Williams. At Interlochen, Mr. Campos was  a winner of the concerto competition and graduated with the Young Artist Award honor. Gabriel has been featured on NPR’s and PBS’s From The Top and received the Jack Kent Cooke Young  Artist Award. Gabriel received prizes at the International Clarinet Convention in 2007, the 2008 Pasadena Showcase House Instrumental Competition, the 2009 Aspen Music Festival and the 2010 Music Academy of the West. As an orchestral musician, Mr. Campos is principal clarinet of the YMF Debut Orchestra, the American Youth Symphony in Los Angeles and clarinetist at the Colburn Orchestra. An avid  supporter of community outreach, Mr. Campos a is a current mentor of YOLA (Youth Orchestra of Los Angeles). Currently, he pursues a  bachelor degree at the Colburn School under the tutelage of maestro Yehuda Gilad.
